Warrington and Halton Head & Neck Cancer Support Group

A warm welcome from Dave Betts QPM, Founder and Chair, Warrington and Halton Head and Neck Cancer Support Group.

Hello everyone. Issues that have affected me in my life have inspired me to form a group to assist other folk who are either travelling a similar cancer journey or are caring for someone who is so affected.

Monthy support meetings

We meet every month at the Centre For Independent Living in Warrington. People who come to our monthly meetings appreciate getting together with others who can support them. Sometimes, just listening to others can be of great support and create a feeling that you are not alone. New friendships are likely also.

Professional Supporters

We try to include certain professionals to lend their support. I am grateful that my wife Glen and friend Dave Thompson are  supporting me. Macmillan have been very supportive and are regular attendees. I know that when I was going through my own issues I would have appreciated the opportunity to speak with others in similar situations.

 Come and join us

So, why not come along, you’ll be very welcome. We look forward to seeing you.

What do people think of our meetings?

“I found the group to be really informative. I was able to ask questions from members who have actually experienced the treatment plans from clatterbridge that we may have to face together which was so reassuring for us both. Seeing the other members responding well to their treatments was so encouraging. Keep up the great work”

“Everybody attending benefited from the meeting and especially those who have gone through surgery.  Speaking to other people that have gone through the same and sharing ideas and information is what the group is all about.  I am very honoured and proud to be invited and part of this group.”

“I was diagnosed with throat and neck cancer in March 2022 which has subsequently spread to other areas.  My wife and I have been attending the local support group for a few months and really find it helpful and supportive .  Members of the group are able to share information and experiences on having cancer , living with the cancer  treatments, including surgery, radiotherapy, immunotherapies and chemotherapy. It is a safe and very supportive environment and the meetings are also regularly attended by health specialists who can answer specific questions or give general advice on what cancer support services are available locally .”
